Bundle Skylights and Blinds to Save

Are you buying a new skylight for your home, but not sure if you want blinds? If you think you might want them later, we recommend taking the leap and purchasing both at the same time. This way, your blinds will be factory installed, saving you money on the purchase AND saving you the hassle and expense of adding the blinds later.

We have found that most customers purchasing a fixed curb mount skylight and having blinds installed at a later time, end up spending an extra $500.

Additionally, when the solar blinds are purchased separately from the fixed skylight, the 30% federal tax credit only applies to the blinds and not the skylight. When installed together, the tax credit applies to the entire project.

New 2011 Tax Credits on VELUX Skylights

Consumers can claim a credit of 10% up to $200 of the purchase price of qualifying windows and skylights and 10% up to $500 for qualifying exterior doors. Installation costs are not included.

All ENERGY STAR® qualified windows, skylights and exterior doors are eligible. Products must be installed in a consumer's existing primary residence; new construction is not eligible.
The revised tax credit is in effect for products installed in a consumer's primary residence between January 1 and December 31, 2011.

The government is expected to post additional information at www.energystar.gov. The IRS is expected to post official guidance at www.irs.gov in early 2011. Circumstances vary widely, so consumers should consult with their tax adviser for further guidance

New VELUX SUN TUNNEL™ SE series qualifies for 30% federal tax credit

By installing VELUX SUN TUNNEL SE series in your primary residence, not only will you get more natural light into your home, you may receive a tax credit of 30% of the price of the product, up to $1500. Utilizing the same proven design of the standard VELUX SUN TUNNEL skylight, the Super Energy Efficient series meets the higher performance standards of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This tax credit program is available through December 31, 2010.

VELUX redesigned the roof dome of the 10” and 14” SUN TUNNELS to reduce the summertime solar heat gain and added an extra insulation space to increase the insulation factor. The end result is that the SE series is even more energy efficient than the standard SUN TUNNEL.
